The Garden Club of Newtown presents "Bee My Honey" on Tuesday, April 28 at the C. H. Booth Library at 1:00 p.m.

C. Marina Marchese, owner of Red Bee Honey, will discuss single-origin honey and the concept of "terroir" accompanied by a honey tasting.

C. Marina Marchese, founder and owner of Red Bee Honey, will be the featured speaker at the upcoming meeting of the Garden Club of Newtown on Tuesday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the C.H. Booth Library.

Ms. Marchese, a beekeeper, lecturer and author, will discuss her book “Honeybee:  Lessons from an Accidental Beekeeper” and a book she co-authored with Kim Flottum entitled “The Honey Connoisseur: Selecting, Tasting and Pairing Honey.”  The founder of The American Honey Tasting Society and a past president and board member of the Backyard Bee Keepers Association of CT, Ms. Marchese is an expert on single-origin honey and will present information on how bees make honey and the concept of “terroir” which influences the taste of varietal honey.  Ms. Marchese received her training from the Italian Registry of Experts in the Sensory Analysis of Honey.

Ms. Marchese will also conduct a honey tasting with instruction regarding how to taste, select and use a diverse selection of honey, some of which will be for sale at the meeting.

For those choosing to purchase one of her books, Ms. Marchese will be available for book signing at the conclusion of her program.
