New Apartment Complex Proposed For South Main Street In Newtown
A previous proposal for the property — made by Brookfield-based landscape architect Robert Sherwood — was denied.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Brookfield landscape architect is again proposing an apartment complex at 35 South Main Street in Newtown, after his first plan was denied by the Planning and Zoning Commission earlier this year.
This time around, Robert Sherwood is proposing a scaled down 20-unit complex on 1.6 acres, instead of his original plan of 27 apartments, the News-Times reported.
The project would be two stories instead of three, and parking at the site would hold 46 vehicles instead of 50, according to Sherwood.

Residents objected to the previous plan, because they said it was too dense for the neighborhood, and would bring in too much traffic.
Some residents voiced similar concerns during a public hearing this month. The Planning and Zoning Commission will vote on the new application at a later date.
