Police Blotter, August 23 - 26

Police issue news releases on disorderly conduct charges and other incidents.

Gelding Hill: A Sandy Hook fire vehicle, driven by Jason Powell, of 166 Mt. Pleasant Road, was hit on the side from a deer that entered the roadway at 42 Gelding Hill at about 8 p.m., Monday, police said. The deer left the scene prior to police arrival and the vehicle did not appear damage, police said.

Main Street (police department): Sean Morits, 36, and Rebecca Morits, 31, both of 4 Castle Hill Road on Thursday turned themselves in on an arrest warrant issued in connection with a domestic incident that occurred on Aug. 9, police said. Both were charged with disorderly conduct, and Sean Morits was additionally charged with third-degree criminal mischief. They were released on a written promise to appear Friday in state Superior Court in Danbury. Sean Morits also was re-arrested on a warrant that Redding police had issued, charging him with second-degree failure to appear, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to return suspended registration. He was released on a $500 bond on that charge and is to appear Sept. 14 in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Meadow Brook Road: Tools were stolen from the back of a pickup truck parked at 34 Meadow Brook Road at about 9 p.m., Wednesday, police said. The tools were covered with a tarp, though the bed of the pickup was open, police said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police at 203-426-5841.

Riverside Road: Anthony Morris, 27, of 209 Riverside Road, was charged with disorderly conduct and violation of a protective order in connection with a domestic incident at about 12:20 a.m., Wednesday, police said. He was held on a $100 bond and was to appear that same day in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Queen Street: A young person was arrested Thursday after displaying a facsimile firearm from a motor vehicle while in the area of Queen Street Thursday, police said. The youthful offender, whom police did not identify, was charged with breach of peace and released on a written promise to appear Sept. 13 in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Schoolhouse Hill Road: A Dodge van, driven by Gregory Gibbs, 52, of 149 Virginia Ave., New Britain, collided with a Toyota sport utility vehicle, operated by Debra Sullivan, 54, of 32 Farm field Ridge Road, at about 8:30 a.m., Monday by the intersection of Schoolhouse Hill and Hanover roads, police said. Gibbs received a written warning for failure to obey a stop sign.

Sunny View Terrace: A home at 18 Sunny View Terrace was burglarized between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Thursday, and taken was $2,000 worth of valuables, police said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police at 203-426-5841.

Underhill Road: Robert B. Robson, 65, of 20 S. Flat  Hill Road, Southbury, was charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a domestic dispute at 138 Underhill Road at about 8:15 p.m., Tuesday, police said. He was released on a written promise to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court in Danbury.

No address given: A fradulent e-mail is being circulated that appears to originate from AT&T telling recipients that they can win $10,000 that night and $50,000 that week, and all recipients must do is submit credit card information for the transfer to occur. Police said they want to remind residents to not give out personal or financial information because it could lead to identity theft.
