Student Police Academy to Start
The police department's school resource officer will be teaching students as part of the department's student police academy next month.

A student police academy is starting up beginning Thurs., Feb. 2 and expected to last for 10 weeks, police said.
The classes, which will meet once a week, is open to Newtown High School students who applied for the program.
Topics will include learning how to become a police officer, motor vehicle laws, including driving under the influence, and accident reconstruction.
