Woman Killed After Car Plunged Into Lake Lillinonah Identified
Efforts were made to revive the woman who spent more than two hours in the submerged vehicle.

Authorities have identified the New Milford woman who died after her car went off of a boat launch into Lake Lillinonah on Saturday.
The woman was identified as 46-year-old Ewa Bielska.
Officials were alerted shortly before noon Saturday that a car had gone off the boat launch into the lake.

According to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the woman was unconscious when she was removed from the icy waters in Bridgewater after spending more than two hours in the submerged vehicle. She was transported to Danbury Hospital where efforts were made to revive her before being pronounced dead at 4 p.m., DEEP said.
The car and the woman were recovered about 40 yards or 120-feet from the boat launch and in about 40-feet of water by local dive teams. According to authorities, Bielska was the sole passenger in the vehicle.

DEEP and Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Connecticut State Police and Bridgewater Police were on the scene to provide assistance.
The dive teams who assisted in removing the car and woman from the lake were provided by Brookfield and New Milford Police as well as Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue. A heavy duty tow truck was also employed in the effort.
