Heroin Seized, Arrest Made By Norwich Police

The arrest and raid were conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

NORWICH, CT — A 31-year-old Norwich man was arrested on narcotics charges Wednesday following a raid on the suspect's Eleventh Street apartment, according to a Norwich police Facebook post.

In addition to the arrest of Odilio Gonzalez, police also seized 25 "baggies of heroin/fentanyl as well as narcotics packaging materials, cell phones, a scale and several hundred dollars in U.S. currency."

The arrest and seizure was conducted by members of the Norwich Police Department Narcotics Unit, Detective Division and Patrol Division, who had received tips that drug dealing was allegedly occurring out of the home.

"Detectives initiated surveillance of the residence and the area when they saw activities consistent with street level narcotics sales from Apartment #1," wrote Norwich police on Facebook.

  • Possession of Heroin (21a-279(a))
  • Possession of Heroin with Intent to Sell (21a-278(b))
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (21a-267(a))

Gonzalez was held in lieu of a $250,000 cash/surety bond and was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

"The Narcotics Unit had received information regarding Gonzalez selling heroin/fentanyl in our city numerous times in the past," wrote Norwich police. "During their investigations into this prior information, Gonzalez was arrested on two (2) separate occasions, September 6th and September 12th, 2017. Gonzalez was also charged with heroin/fentanyl possession and possession with intent to sell on those dates. Prior to [Wednesday's] arrest, Gonzalez had been released on a total of $170,000.00 in surety bonds and $10,000.00 in non-surety bonds in those and other criminal cases."
