Norwich Man Faces Litany Of Gun, Drug Charges: Police

A man who fled police had four guns and large quantities of drugs was held on $350,000 bond, police said.

NORWICH, CT — A man is facing numerous charges after police said they found he had several guns, ammunition, and large quantities of drugs.

Police conducting a drugs investigation attempted to stop a vehicle in the Occum section of Norwich on Monday. The man driving the vehicle fled.

Police located the man a short while later near the Franklin/Norwich town line. The man fled again, and while attempting to elude officers, threw items out of the windows of his vehicle, police said.

The vehicle became disabled a short while later and the man was taken into custody.

Police then seized large quantities of drugs including cocaine, fentanyl, suboxone, and marijuana. Police also seized three semi-automatic handguns, a revolver, high-capacity magazines, several rounds of live ammunition, and a large sum of cash.

Javon Morse, 29, of Norwich, was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, three counts of possession of narcotics, three counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, two counts of possession of a high-capacity magazine, two counts of tampering with evidence, two counts of disobeying signal of an officer, and failure to maintain lane.

He was held on $350,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court Oct. 24.

Morse is expected to face additional charges, police said.
