Norwich Receives Grant For 'Small Harbor Improvement Project'

The city is one of 16 around the state to receive funding under the program.

NORWICH, CT — Sixteen different Connecticut municipalities this week had Small Harbor Improvement Projects approved for state funding. The total amount of funding that will be handed out tops $4
million.

The money allotted is under the jurisdiction of the Connecticut Port Authority’s “Grants-In- Aid” for improvements to ports and marinas. The work includes dreading and navigational directional work.

—Fairfield, update harbor management plan/reconstruct/dredge boat ramp, $272,500;
—Norwich, update harbor management plan, $7,500;
—Wethersfield, new boat ramp, $765,000;
—West Haven, boat ramp feasibility study, $59,800;
—Clinton, reconstruct/dredge boat ramp, $110,000;
—Stamford, West Beach Boat Ramp and Docks, $120,000;
—Madison, marina study, $90,000;
—Milford, Lisman Landing dock repairs, $398,000;
—Norwalk, reconstruction of visitors docks, $908,250;
—Groton, Town – new Nautilus Dock, $730,000;
—Groton, City – new Thames Street Dock, $54,400;
—Waterford, Mago Point Mooring/Dock, $35,000;
—Stratford, Emergency Service Dock, $13,700;
—Chester, design and planning for Chester Creek dredging, $15,000;
—Stonington, South Pier/Town Dock dredging and breakwater reconstruction, $390,000
