Sept. 26 closure ends operations at Norwich FedEx Ship Center (norwichbulletin.com) — Norwich residents who rely on the FedEx Ship Center in the Norwich Industrial Park should prepare for its closure on Sept. 26, part of a nationwide FedEx network overhaul. While some employees will transfer, customers will need to use other local drop-off spots around Norwich or switch carriers, a change already frustrating nearby businesses and online sellers.
   

2. NFA senior setter sets new school volleyball record (norwichbulletin.com) — Norwich Free Academy athletes are off to a strong fall, with senior Savannah Guernsey setting a new school volleyball record and multiple NFA teams posting big wins. Norwich Tech runners and soccer players also turned in standout performances, including top finishes at the Wheeler Invitational and key league victories, giving Norwich fans plenty to cheer about this season.
   

3. ICE Boston Arrests Peruvian Illegal Alien in Norwich After Child Sex Assault Charges (newbedfordguide.com) — Federal immigration officers from ICE's Boston office arrested a Peruvian national in Norwich during a targeted operation focused on people with criminal records or immigration violations. ICE says the man faces multiple serious sexual assault-related charges involving minors, but has not yet released details on the arrest date or his current custody status.
   

4. Driver extricated from vehicle after fiery crash in Preston, firefighters say (nbcconnecticut.com) — Norwich firefighters helped Preston crews free a trapped driver after a fiery two-car crash on Route 2 Monday morning, where one vehicle rolled onto its side and another caught fire. An off-duty Preston fire captain used an extinguisher before crews arrived, and Norwich Fire Department and American Ambulance assisted; no additional details on injuries were released.
