NORWICH, CT — A man accused of causing a head-on crash was driving the wrong way on an I-395 off-ramp while intoxicated, according to state police.

Troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the exit 18 southbound off-ramp on I-395 in Norwich at 1:19 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers "quickly realized that the at-fault vehicle had been driving the wrong way on the off-ramp," state police said. The wrong-way driver had struck another vehicle head-on.

No injuries were reported.

Police said the driver, Theodore Kunsa, 45, of Voluntown, showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests.

He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, driving the wrong way on a limited access highway, and reckless driving.

He was released on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on March. 4.
