The Historic District Commission is urging intensive public engagement, formal comment periods, and a local hearing, while Amtrak promises better outreach but has not ruled out controversial route options.

• Connecticut River train bridge replacement project is on track and on budget (theday.com) — Construction of the new Connecticut River rail bridge between Old Saybrook and Old Lyme is on schedule and within its $1.3 billion budget, with completion expected by 2031.
