Ridgefield Father Accused of Causing Son's Death in a Hot Car to Face a Judge Today
Kyle Seitz is charged with leaving his 15-month-old son in a hot car for several hours and his son later died.

Update: Seitz will be allowed to leave the state to spend time with his family during the holidays.
Kyle Seitz, the Ridgefield father, who is charged with leaving his 15-month old son, Benjamin, in a hot car for several hours this summer causing the boy’s death will face a judge this morning in Superior Court, Danbury, according to court records.
Patch will have updates of Seitz’s court appearance. He faces a maximum of one year in prison if convicted.

Seitz is charged with the criminal negligent homicide of his son and pleaded not guilty earlier this year to the charge.
Benjamin Seitz passed away on July 7 due to hypothermia on a hot summer day in the high 80’s. Benjamin was supposed to be dropped off at daycare that morning by his father, but never arrived, according to police. Mr. Seitz discovered the child that evening and rushed him to Danbury Hospital around 6 p.m., where the toddler was pronounced dead.

On Aug. 21 the state’s medical examiner’s office ruled the baby’s death a homicide caused by hypothermia.
Kyle Seitz turned himself in to the Ridgefield Police after learning there was a warrant for his arrest.
