Ridgefield histories and more available at the Scott House

The Ridgefield Historical Society features a large selection of books on Ridgefield history, including some copies of out-of-print works by 20th Century historians, George L. Rockwell, Silvio Bedini, and Aldo Biagiotti.
We have Keith Jones’ new examination of the Battle of Ridgefield, published this fall, which incorporates all the latest research on the battle and makes the case for its significance in the Revolutionary War. Using numerous primary sources, Jones has written a narrative that brings to life some of the main characters on both sides of the 1777 invasion.
There are numerous books on aspects of Ridgefield history by Jack Sanders, from profiles of prominent citizens, to the history of Ridgefield’s Black population over the centuries, to a comprehensive compilation of the place names of Ridgefield, their sources and stories. The heavily illustrated Great Estates, also by Sanders, presents the stories of some of the residents who had a profound impact on the development of the town.
