Ridgefield Schools Superintendent Resigns

Dr. Karen Baldwin's resignation agreement is effective June 30.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Board of Education has accepted the resignation of Dr. Karen Baldwin. Last month, Baldwin was placed on leave from her job as superintendent, her role since 2015. Baldwin's resignation agreement is effective June 30.

Baldwin's resignation comes following allegations of plagiarism. Portions of a letter sent to the school community after the Parkland shooting came from a letter sent by West Hartford's superintendent. Ridgefield High School senior Paul Kim brought the allegations to light along with three other documents that appear to be copied without attribution.

Director of Technology and Operations Robert Miller has been serving as acting superintendent and will continue to do so until June 30. The board has formed a personnel search committee to begin the process to secure a new superintendent.
