Think Spring! Think Gardens! New garden tour in June
A chance to visit some of the hidden gems of horticulture in Ridgefield
The Ridgefield Garden Tour, Beyond the Garden Gate, will be a unique opportunity to visit seven private and special Ridgefield gardens plus tour the Ballard Gardens in Ballard Park. All will be in their peak of spring beauty.
Sponsored by the Ridgefield Garden Club and Ridgefield Historical Society, this will be the town’s first locally organized garden tour in more than 30 years and will benefit the two organizations, both devoted to the preservation of what makes Ridgefield a special place.
Our honorary chair is Ridgefielder Todd Forrest, the Arthur Ross Vice President for Horticulture and Living Collections at the New York Botanical Garden. He has written the text for a new book, Gardening with Nature at the New York Botanical Garden, which will be released in April.
To celebrate the tour, there will be a Spring Soiree, Hats Off to Spring, on June 7 from 7 to 11 p.m. at yet another spectacular Ridgefield garden. Tickets will also be available on Feb. 14.
Visitors to town (or Ridgefielders looking to make this weekend extra special) are invited to buy tickets for the Ridgefield Garden Tour Weekend raffle, which includes two nights at the Fountain Inn on Main Street, a gift certificate ($200) to Bailey’s Backyard, and two tickets to the A.C.T. production of Waitress, The Musical, on Saturday, June 7, at 8 pm. Tickets for the tour and soiree are sold separately. There will be 100 raffle tickets sold at $100; the drawing will take place on May 1.
