Rocky Hill Students Inducted Into National Honor Society
One of the largest classes in recent history joins the Rocky Hill chapter.

High school students were rewarded last week with their entrance into a "prestigious club" for excelling in the classroom, with volunteer organizations and through extracurricular activities.
An induction ceremony for the Rocky Hill chapter of the National Honor Society was held on May 16, which saw 40 students inducted into the organization.

This year, 61 students applied to be part of the Rocky Hill chapter of the society, which has been around since the late 1960s. Each student had to fill out an application for the program. Students had to show what they had accomplished in the following four areas and had to exceed the minimum requirements.
- Scholarship - must maintain 3.2 GPA for at least three semesters
- Leadership - must belong to at least two school organizations
- Character - teachers grade students on their overall behavior
- Service - must have participated in two documented service projects
"It is supposed to represent the best of the best that the school has to offer," Wilcox said. "These are the most well rounded kids who do the most for the school and the community."
Then a five-person committee reviews the students' credentials and votes on which young adults should be selected for the society.
"It is a prestigious club to be a part," Wilcox said.
Wilcox added that being a part of the National Honor Society will help the students later in life.
"It looks really good on resume or a transcript," he said.
