β€’ District of Connecticut joins DOJ Fraud Division, SBA, and SBA OIG in surge takedown exceeding $245 million in COVID-era loan fraud offenses (irs.gov) β€” A Shelton resident has pleaded guilty in federal court to defrauding the Paycheck Protection Program of more than $1.8 million through inflated business income and fabricated documents. The case is part of a nationwide Justice Department crackdown on COVID-era loan fraud that has uncovered hundreds of defendants and significant taxpayer losses. Sentencing for the Shelton defendant is scheduled for November.
