Another CT Student, 13, Arrested for Clown Threats: State Police

Allegedly using the social media site Instagram, the student threatened schools in four Connecticut communities.

BEACON FALLS, CT — A 13-year-old Beacon Falls boy was arrested on a Disorderly Conduct charge by state police in connection with clown threats posted on Instagram involving schools in four area communities.

The boy, whose identity was not released due to his age, allegedly posted about schools in Beacon Falls, Prospect, Waterbury and New Haven, according to state police.

No specific students were named in the postings, and no specific threat of violence was mentioned, but the episode is the latest in a spate of creepy clown postings, threats and sightings throughout the country and Connecticut.

What was in the posts, which were made Tuesday night, was not disclosed, but state police were alerted to them on Wednesday by the principal of the Long River Middle School in Region #16 in Prospect. Several students spoke to the principal about the posts.

“The Instagram account was determined to be from a Region 16 School District student,” wrote state police in a statement. “The student was identified and, based on the alarm that was caused by the Instagram posts, and the fact that they were made publicly, the student was charged with Disorderly Conduct under CT General Statute 53a-182(a)(2).”
