Philanthropist Donates $2 Million for New Sports Complex in Derby
Joan Payden, founder, president, and CEO of an investment firm, made the donation to the city where her parents used to live.

DERBY, CT — Joan Payden, founder, president, and CEO of the investment firm Payden & Rygel, has donated $2 million to help build a new school sports complex in Derby, the city where her parents used to live, reports the Valley Independent Sentinel.
The new project at the high school calls for the construction of a new field house and baseball field at the Leo F. Ryan Athletic Complex.
Payden made the donation in memory of her father, Joseph Raymond Payden, who was valedictorian at Derby High School in 1915, reports the Westport News.
