Simsbury Benefits From $15K In Community Benevolence
The town recently received community donations for its police department and its community heating assistance program.

SIMSBURY, CT — The Town of Simsbury was the recent beneficiary of some community generosity courtesy of two donations aimed at helping the town serve the public.
Those donations were acknowledged by the Simsbury Board of Selectmen Jan. 9, representing a total of $15,000 of community benevolence.
That benevolence was directed for both the police department and a local program aimed at helping folks heat their homes.

• The first donation accepted was $5,000 from Ron Perry for the Simsbury Police Department.
Selectmen unanimously accepted the cash with gratitude and said it would go into the SPD's discretionary fund, helping them enforce the law and serve the town.

• The generosity toward the town continued, with selectmen unanimously accepting with gratitude a $10,000 donation from Garrity Asphalt Reclaiming out of Bloomfield.
The paving company donated the funds for Simsbury's "Keep Simsbury Warm" program run by the Simsbury Community and Social Services Department, which provides funding help for folks financially struggling to heat their homes.
Such services are in high demand this year, as the price of heating oil has skyrocketed.
