Local Olympian Florian Helps Out at Rotary Benefit Event for Community Kids in Crisis

Southington Rotary Club’s project to help DSS kids in crisis by making up backpacks full of necessary items, thoughtful gifts and a little love was boosted last night when Austin Florian, Southington’s own Olympian, came to help. Rotary quietly manages several community projects.

This group of community-minded benevolent fellows join to work on making a difference in our community here in Southington as well as internationally. Rotary can be effective in areas where government and big NGO may not be able because of the extensive connection in communities all around the world. They can, and often do, work under the radar to help innumerable people. Because of Rotary’s low-key approach to doing good, it was a boost and an honor to have Austin Florian join us. Austin’s caring and compassionate nature was obvious as he quietly entered and did what was necessary to help. He is not just a great athlete. We are proud and fortunate to have him as our Southington star.
