I-84 Crash Thursday Nearly Created Massive Omelette: State

The crash caused a massive traffic jam Thursday in Plainville and other towns, with the state Friday releasing images of a massive egg mess.

PLAINVILLE, CT — No one was seriously hurt when a tractor-trailer rollover on Interstate 84 in Plainville Thursday morning.

However, according to the state Department of Transportation's images released of the crash scene, it could have been the state's largest breakfast buffet.

That's because the tractor-trailer was full of eggs and when the vehicle flipped, the trailer ruptured and eggs spilled out over the road and into the nearby woods.

Think of it as hundreds of thousands of Humpty Dumpties having a massive, collective "great fall."

The DOT Friday afternoon released images of the scene and thanked all of the responders from state and area fire departments for their role in directing traffic away from the scene.

I-84 was closed for much of the morning, causing traffic jams in Plainville and nearby towns.

"Crews remained onsite to assist in clean up before the highway reopened," wrote the DOT.

That crash, along with crashes on Interstate 84 in Southington and a fatal crash on Interstate 84 in Manchester, made for a harrowing morning on the highway in Connecticut.
