The driver allegedly went through a red light and a South Windsor police officer had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision.

SOUTH WINDSOR — A Manchester man faces DUI charges after allegedly going through a red light and nearly striking a police cruiser.

A South Windsor police officer had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision when a vehicle went through a red light on John Fitch Blvd. shortly after midnight on Thursday, March 24, according to Deputy Chief Scott Custer.

The officer suspected the operator was under the influence of alcohol.

Following a series of roadside sobriety tests officers arrested the man, Sean Palla, 29, of 64 Jarvis Road in Manchester. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failure to obey control signal.

Palla was later released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on April 4.
