South Windsor High School Ranked as One of the Top Schools in the Nation

Newsweek Magazine ranks South Windsor in its Top 500 Public High Schools in America list.

South Windsor High School was recently named as one of the top schools in the nation by Newsweek Magazine.

Newsweek ranked South Windsor High as No. 226 in its Top 500 Public High Schools in America list. South Windsor was one of only 13 state schools to make the rankings.

South Windsor Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kate Carter said, “The national recognition of our student performance in Newsweek is a reflection of the hard work of our students, the support from our parents, the unwavering commitment of our teachers, the dedication of our support staff, and the leadership that (Principal) Mr. Sullivan and his administrative team bring every day to South Windsor High School.”

The rankings were devised by initially identifying schools that performed above the 80th percentile on standardized testing within each state. Those schools were then evaluated considering criteria such as Advanced Placement enrollment, Scholastic Aptitude Test performance, and graduation rates. The ultimate ratings were based on a factor Newsweek identified as College Readiness Score.

“I am very proud of the efforts that our teachers and students make each day at South Windsor High School,” South Windsor High School Principal Dan Sullivan said. “This honor is a reflection of their hard work and commitment to excellence. I consider myself lucky to work with them each day.”
