State Champion 1979 Boys' Soccer Team Inducted into South Windsor High School Hall of Fame
Highlighting this year's induction class: Part V.

Editor’s Note: The South Windsor High School Hall of Fame recently inducted its third class with its annual dinner ceremony. We will highlight each inductee with profiles (but will break them into parts). The inductees are Jack Longo, Jill Biancucci Kolinsky, Priscilla Collins Snow, Brett Burnham, Cristi Carbone Burnham, Karen Rossi, Dorothy Blozie Morrill, Deborah Dillon-Lightfoot (posthumously) and the State Champion Boys’ Soccer Team of 1979.

Led by Hall of Fame Coach Charlie Sharos, the team captured South Windsor High School’s first and only State Championship. They entered the tournament with a record of 11-2-3, the only losses coming at the hands of Class LL finalist, Glastonbury.
During their four-game tournament run, the Bobcats scored 13 goals and shutout two opponents. The defining moment came in the semi-finals when after being tied at the half, the team scored three goals to defeat New Canaan.

The final game ended in the third overtime as the Cats defeated Guilford 3-2, snapping Guilford’s streak of winning three consecutive state titles.
