Fire Destroys North Stamford Home: Fire Department
A fire ripped through a home in North Stamford early Friday morning completely destroying it, according to the Stamford Fire Department.

STAMFORD, CT — A North Stamford home was destroyed after a fire broke out shortly before 6 a.m., Friday, according to the Stamford Fire Department. No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries to fire personnel were reported.
At 5:49 a.m., 911 dispatch began receiving calls about a house possibly on fire on Butternut Lane off Long Ridge Road, SFD Capt. Philip Hayes said in a news release.
An engine from the Long Ridge Volunteer Fire Company arrived first and confirmed a structure fire at a home in the 200 block of Butternut Lane, Hayes said.

A "Level 1 tanker response" was immediately requested to help fight the flames, bringing tankers from Long Ridge Fire Company, Turn of River Fire Department, Banksville Fire Department and Pound Ridge Fire Department.
Hayes said the fire "quickly consumed" the entire home before the structure was "completely lost."

Hayes said propane tanks surrounding the home caused a "significant hazard" to those on the scene. Firefighters focused on cooling the tanks during the initial response as flames approached them, Hayes said.
The Long Ridge Fire Marshal and the Stamford Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire, which was undetermined as of Friday evening.
