Imaginary Clown Leads to Cancelled Recess at Stamford School
An 8-year-old boy's imagination got the best of him, police said.

STAMFORD, CT—An imaginary menacing clown with a knife led to cancelled recess at Stillmeadow Elementary School Wednesday, according to police.
Some children were talking about creepy clowns during lunch Wednesday, according to the Stamford Advocate. An 8-year-old boy told a teacher he spotted two clowns outside the school and one had a knife.
Children were taken inside and recess was cancelled. Police searched the area, but didn't find the clowns.

Later on the child and his friends were talked to and it was determined that the clowns were figments of the boy's imagination.
The boy is far from the only person to be afraid of clowns. Creepy clown hysteria continues to be an issue across the state. State Police and other departments have warned that clown threats could have potential legal consequences.
