Man 'Intentionally' Struck Pedestrian With SUV: Stamford Police
A pedestrian was seriously injured and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit following a hit-and-run collision in February.

STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford man was arrested and charged Monday in connection with a February hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian seriously injured, according to police, who said the act by the driver was intentional.
Jeremiah Vizzo, 43, who police identified as the driver, surrendered to Stamford police at headquarters. He was charged with first-degree assault, reckless operation, and felony evading responsibility, police said in a news release.
A 2008 Lexus SUV was traveling westbound on West Main Street at approximately 7 a.m. on Feb. 16 when it struck a pedestrian and fled the scene, police said. The pedestrian was taken to Stamford Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Police said at the time that the suspected driver was interviewed and invoked his right to counsel and refused to speak with police officers.
An arrest warrant for Vizzo was applied for and ultimately signed by Stamford Superior Court.
Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the SPD told Patch the driver "intentionally" struck the victim. It's unclear what led up to the incident.
Vizzo was held on a $75,000 court-set bond, police said. He's scheduled to appear in court on April 21.
