New 'Court' Show For Famous CT Talk Show Host: Report

The new show will be taped in front of an audience in Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — Less than six months after the announcement that his eponymous talk show was halting production, Jerry Springer is planning a return to television next year with a new daytime court show called "Judge Jerry," writes Variety.

The show, like #1-rated "Judge Judy," will place Springer behind the bench to resolve small claims disputes, and it will debut in the fall of 2019. Before hosting his legendary talk show, Springer was an attorney and former mayor of Cincinnati.

"For the first time in my life, I am going to be called honorable," said Springer in a statement to Variety and other media outlets. "My career is coming full circle and I finally get to put my law degree to use after all these years."

The new show will be taped in front of an audience in Stamford, in the same facility where Springer filmed his talk show for many years, and where Steve Wilkos and Maury Povich tape their shows.

Springer's talk show ran for 27 years, and started taping in Stamford in 2009. Reruns of the nearly 4,000 episodes of the talk show are still on the air.
