Settlement Reached in Stamford Teacher Sex Abuse Incident

The teacher is serving a five-year prison sentence after being arrested for having sexual relations with a student.

STAMFORD, CT- The former Stamford High School student that had sexual relations with an English teacher was awarded a $750,000 settlement with the city.

The teen's identity is being protected because he is the victim of sexual abuse, according to the Stamford Advocate. The identity of another student who Danielle Watkins supplied marijauna to during 2013 is also protected.

"This past week we were able to achieve a settlement of a claim for sexual misconduct against a municipality for $750,000.00, total value of 1,108,921.00 for all claims," Law firm Papcsy Jansov Roche wrote on its Facebook page.

The agreement came before a civil suit was filed. It was reached after several days of mediation, said Attorney Donald Papcsy, who represented the teen, according to the Advocate.

Watkins was ordered to serve five years in jail with five years suspended, 15 years probation, register with the sex offender registry for 10 years and was banned from contacting her victims until 2030.

Stamford High Principal Donna Valentine was fired and her assistant Roth Nordin resigned following their arrests after they failed to report the incident. They are serving a special form of probation.
