Stamford Nursing Home Fined by State For Several Incidents

The incidents included an aide punching a resident; others involved residents falling.

A Stamford nursing home reportedly is one of seven facilities fined by the state Department of Health for violations that included an aide punching a resident.

Regency Heights of Stamford was fined $1,370 for several incidents, that also included a resident falling from a sling as they were moved from a bed to a wheelchair, suffering a head injury that required three days of hospitalization, according to a Connecticut Health I-Team report. The fine was imposed on on Feb. 26, according to the report.

The incident involving an aide punching a resident in the arm last April that prompted a response from a doctor and Stamford Police, according to the report. The facility — located on Courtland Avenue — reportedly was also cited for incidents involving a resident who fell several times because they weren’t wearing non-skid socks and another who broke a toe when a shower door closed on their foot.
