The Westfair Singers Invite Interested Women Vocalists to Join in Creating Music of Beauty In Westchester and Fairfield Counties
Acclaimed Women's Choral Ensemble Looking to Add New Singers.

The Westfair Singers – the accomplished women’s ensemble featuring voices from Westchester and Fairfield Counties and a world-renowned director - invites interested women to consider joining them in their mission of creating and sharing music of quality and beauty throughout the region.
“If you would like to develop your musical gifts alongside women who share a passion for singing, we invite you to visit us at any rehearsal,” says Anne Drake, Westfair’s membership chair. The ensemble plans to add new members and expand its presence in the region in the coming year. Rehearsals, Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Stanwich School in Greenwich, CT, are underway for Westfair’s spring concert, which will take place on Saturday, May 2, at South Salem Presbyterian Church, South Salem, NY.

Conducted by Mary Jane Newman since 2009, Westfair presents two major concerts each year, in December and May, with additional performances in the Stamford and Greenwich communities. The ensemble has earned critical acclaim for its innovative programming celebrating the heart and light of women’s voices, with a repertoire ranging from Classical to Broadway to Popular and featuring music by Bach, Bernstein, Handel, Mozart, Palestrina,Thompson and many other composers. Westfair is honored to have as guest composer Anthony Newman, the internationally known, much–honored composer who has written choral pieces exclusively for their performances. Described by Wynton Marsalis as “The High Priest of Bach” and by Time Magazine as “The High Priest of the Harpsichord,” Mr. Newman has achieved a four decade career as America’s leading organist, harpsichordist, and Bach specialist.
Westfair Director Mary Jane Newman, a Stamford resident, is widely recognized as a conductor, harpsichordist, organist, and recording artist throughout the U.S. and Europe. She made her New York debut in 1986 in Lincoln Center’s “Great Performers” series at Alice Tully Hall. Ms. Newman has also been soloist with the Cracow Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic, the Virginia Symphony, as well as conductor of Musical Antiqua New York, the Brandenburg Collegium, and at the prestigious Mozart Festival in Prague.

The ensemble, bringing together Westchester and Fairfield County women to present beautiful music since 1987, sings with a vision of reaching beyond racial, cultural, and generational boundaries to create musical experiences that enlighten, inspire and entertain. Westfair is excited to continue its tradition of bringing music to the region’s underserved communities by performing pro-bono at area senior centers and health centers in the coming year.
