18,600 Sext Texts Allegedly Sent by Stonington's Former First Selectman
Ed Habarek Jr. reportedly used a cell phone issued by the town to conduct business of a very personal nature.
In 2012, former Stonington First Selectman Ed Habarek reportedly sent and received more than 18,000 sexual texts on a work phone from the town, The Day learned recently.
Connecticut’s Freedom of Information Commission responded favorably to The Day’s request to see Habarek’s text messages from 2011 and 2012.
According to The Day, the town of Stonington attempted to block the releasing of the texts, ultimately spending $8,025 in legal fees.

A lawsuit against Habarek was filed by Tracy Swain of Pawcatuck, accusing him of sending sexually explicit pictures of himself.
“On January 12, 2010, despite the plaintiff’s request that Haberek stop communicating with her, Haberek sent her a sexually graphic photo of himself via Facebook message, telephone or Blackberry,” the FIndLaw page on the court case noted.
