Aquarion Water Company To Clean Stonington Water Mains

Aquarion Water Company today announced a water main cleaning program for areas in Stonington and Stonington Borough, in order to ensure that customers continue to receive the highest quality water. The water main cleaning will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6th. The streets in Stonington that will be affected by the water main cleaning are: Bayview Avenue Bradley Street Broad Street Chesebro Lane Cutler Street Elihu Street Elm Street High Street Island Road Main Street Meadow Avenue North Main Street North Water Street Oak Street Owen Drive Palmer Street Richmond Lane South Street Summit Street Tipping Rock Trumbull Avenue Water Street Williams Street During the cleaning, customers may notice some discoloration in their water. This discoloration results from the temporary disturbance of the water flow, which stirs up naturally occurring minerals that settle in water mains. Aquarion recommends customers store water in their refrigerators for drinking and cooking. Customers should also refrain from washing laundry if water is discolored. Prior to resuming use, customers should run their cold water faucets until the water appears clear. The company appreciates customers’ understanding and patience.
