Bill to Return Historic Wharf to Stonington Reaches President’s Desk
Legislation that would transfer control of a historic wharf to Stonington has reached higher office.

STONINGTON, CT - Higher offices are considering a bill that would return a historic wharf to the town of Stonington, Fox 61 reported.
The bill has reached the desk of President Barack Obama, according to Fox 61. The wharf dates back to 1827 and was once used as a gangway for wagons to unload 19th century schooners.
The legislation would transfer control of the structure to Stonington from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, according to Fox 61. Supporters of the bill are hoping the wharf could eventually be used to help protect the community from rising sea levels.
