Laurel Double-Reed Quartet
"Reeds around the World"
This is a rare opportunity for you to encounter the four appealing instruments of the double-reed family: the oboe, the haunting oboe d’amore, the soulful English horn (or Cor anglé), and the gravely beautiful bassoon. After opening with one of the Quartetts in Georg Philipp Telemann’s brilliantly conversational Tafelmusik (1733), the four players will explore evocative landscapes & soundscapes set by living New Zealand and American composers.
Open to the public and free of charge.
