Dig This: Kids Raise Enough Money for African Well
Pine Point seventh grade students raise $2,800 to dig well for an African village of 140

Pine Point School seventh graders have spent much of the year focusing on the issue of clean water, and the inability of many around the world to obtain this vital resource. To that end, they embarked on a fundraiser to support the digging of a well in an African village.
Recently, four local bands, organized by teacher David Smith, played a concert at The Knickerbocker Café in Westerly to raise money towards the students’ goal of $2,800. Johnny and the East Coast Rockers, Brass Attacks, The Chris Leigh Band, and Dave Smith’s band, The Zingerz, all played the concert (for free), which raised $1,600 toward their goal.
With additional fundraising done, that goal has been met, and a well will be purchased to provide clean water for a village of 140 people.
