Mystic's Whaler's Inn Seeks Approval for Expanded Seating
The Whaler's Inn in downtown Mystic asked the Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission to approve expanded seating.

MYSTIC, CTâWhaler's Inn in downtown Mystic has asked the Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission to approve a special use permit request to expand its existing seating in the Inn's former restaurant from 60 to 100 seats, according to the PZC agenda. The Inn has also requested to operate under a "hotel liquor permit, with the possible merger" of its two lots located at 20 East Main St. and 9 Cottrell St., in Mystic.
The Day reported that the request calls for the additional 40 seats to come from the "former Johnâs Cafe next door, which it bought and then demolished."
The paper speculated that the request may face opposition similar to what occurred with the now-scuttled Smilerâs Wharf project on Seaport Marine property.
