The Ebenezer Avery House announces their participation in the national Blue Star Museum program, the Connecticut Open House Day, and the opening of their new exhibit, "Samplers of the Avery Women." Blue Star Museums offer free admission to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty U.S. military - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps - and up to five family members. The program runs from Memorial Day through to Labor Day. Connecticut Open House Day is June 8th and the Ebenezer Avery House will be open from noon until 4:00 p.m. with Colonial Magician Joseph Potter and their new exhibit featuring recently restored samplers from the 1790s through the 1840s. The Ebenezer Avery House, at 57 Fort Street in Groton, is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. Tours are available throughout the year by appointment. 860-446-9257
