You don’t have to be a runner to participate in the Fifth annual Memorial Day Bearathon 5K Road Race slated Memorial Day, Monday May 27 at 10 a.m. because walkers are welcome, too!
The race begins at the Mystic branch of the Ocean Community on Harry Austin Drive and loop around Mason's Island.
The race will be officially timed by SNERRO and is endorsed by USA Track and Field. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Stonington High School classes of 2013 and 2015, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Pawcatuck VFW to support its Memorial Day parade.
The cost of registration is $15 before race day and $20 on race day. Race day registration will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. The race is open to runners and walkers. The first 50 registrants will receive a free Bearathon T-shirt. Those interested should visit the Bearathon website at www.shsbearathon.com.
