First Restaurant Opens in Stonington American Velvet Mill After 17-Year Transformation

The opening continues a 17-year-long transformation from a textile plant into a center for food, art and more.

STONINGTON, CT - The first restaurant has opened in the American Velvet Mill in Stonington, as reported by The Day.

The new wine bar and bistro The Velvet Vine had its grand opening on Friday, according to The Day. The new eatery features a menu of assorted paninis, sandwiches, soups and salads from ingredients made on site.

The opening continues the mill’s 17-year-long transformation from a shuttered textile plant into an epicenter of sorts for food, art and business, The Day reported. The Velvet Vine’s is the sister restaurant of Twisted Vine in Westerly, R.I.
