Garden out of control . . .

Finally, it rained. Just before the lawn went dormant. Thank you, Lawnmower Manufacturers Association (I assume there is one, and it controls the weather, I'll call them LMA for the rest of this post). The days of April and early May were too cool and dry to get out and tend to the garden, and best of all, the lawn stayed as I left it in October, and all was good. Then it rained, and the days warmed, and all hell broke loose. We went from cold and dry, to wet and, well, if last year is anything to go by, steamy and rotting. Keeps me on my toes, but I'd rather rest on my heels. Spread 4,500 yds of mulch this afternoon, hoping the scent of cedar will fool visitors that the weeds poking up aren't really there. Really, it smells like a kindergarten pencil sharpener around here, and how cool is that? Beats any garden theme I could think of.
