One Person Treated at Scene After Stonington Residence Fire

The fire was caused by a furnace motor initially failing to ignite.

STONINGTON, CT – A furnace fire Monday evening resulted in one person needing treatment at the scene, the Westerly Sun reported.

One person suffered smoke inhalation as a result of the fire at a Croft Court residence, the Westerly Sun reported. The fire was reported around 6:20 p.m., and the call was cleared around 7:30 p.m.

The fire was caused by a furnace motor initially failing to ignite and building up excess heat oil, the Westerly Sun reported. Residue in the stove pipe and the exterior power vent also caught fire.
