Pawcatuck Man Arrested for DUI After Fleeing Scene of Crash, Returning Later

Police had received reports of a vehicle striking a utility pole, damaging the vehicle and snapping the pole in two.

STONINGTON, CT – Police said they arrested a Pawcatuck man for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs early Sunday, according to The Day.

Maxwell Gilmore, 26, is suspected of fleeing the scene of a crash early Sunday, according to The Day. Police had received reports of a vehicle striking a utility pole on Washington Street near 2:20 a.m.

The vehicle that struck the pole was unoccupied when officers arrived, but Gilmore returned later with cuts on his hands appearing intoxicated, The Day reported. GIlmore is on probation for two separate convictions in 2015.
