Police Issue Nearly 30 Citations for Distracted Driving
As part of a campaign, police cracked down on distracted drivers earlier this month.

STONINGTON, CT – Police issued nearly 30 citations for cellphone use during a campaign this month, the Westerly Sun reported.
The citations were part of the “U Drive, U Text, U Pay” campaign, which ran from Aug. 3 to Aug. 16, according to the Westerly Sun. Officers issued 28 citations during this time period.
The initiative focused on distracted driving, including people talking on their phone and texting while operating a moving vehicle, the Westerly Sun reported. Though the campaign has ended, police remain committed to discouraging people from these practices.
