Red Cross Assists Stonington Family of 3 After Fire

They are able to provide assistance to families in distress mainly through donations.

STONINGTON, CT – The American Red Cross is helping a family of three adults after a fire today on Soundview Avenue in Pawcatuck.

According to a release, the Red Cross provided assistance to meet the family’s immediate needs. Responders included: Frank and Jane Lionelli and Sue Bolen.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

Additionally, a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire. These include tips on cleanup, notification of important contacts, dealing with damaged items and more.

Those affected will meet with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan. The organization is able to provide assistance mainly through the generosity of donors.
