Stonington 113-Unit Affordable Housing Proposal Under Consideration
Plans call for 113 townhouses at the site that once was home to a popular nightclub.
STONINGTON, CT — A developer has submitted a proposal calling for 113 affordable single-family residential units at a lot on Liberty Street. The proposal's special use permit application was on the agenda for the Sept. 19 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
The plans are from Trumbull developer Fair Housing LLC, whose principal is Eugene Arganese, owner of Arganese Cigars based in the Dominican Republic and several Misquamicut businesses, The Day reported.
The site is the former home of the popular Rosalini's nightclub, which operated from the 1970s to its closure in 1999. Residents then successfully fought against a strip club opening at the site. Since then the property has been home to a range of businesses and restaurants.

The venue reopened under the Rosalini name last year but closed after just a few months, according to NBC-10 WJAR.
Current plans for the site call for 113 three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom townhouses clustered in groups of 10 with 3 to 20 units.
