Stonington Facebook Users Assist in Mystic Playground Poisonous Bush Removal

Social media was the real hero when it came to removing a potentially deadly neighborhood threat.

STONINGTON, CT- A poisonous bush was removed from the playground area of Mystic River Park with the help of some active Facebook users, the Westerly Sun reported.

A post on the Stonington Community Forum Facebook page alerted park administration that a blueberry bush was entwined with a nightshade bush containing poisonous berries, the Westerly Sun reported. The bush was considered especially dangerous as many families often eat berries from the normal bush.

The post was brought to the attention of the Mystic River Park Commission, who had the whole bush removed due to how extensively the two were intertwined, according to the Westerly Sun. The whole process took only a handful of days, shining light on how well the Stonington community works together to solve problems.
