Stonington First Selectman Announced as Speaker for Norwich Korean War Ceremony

The event will honor those who served between June 1950 and July 1953, regardless of theater.

NORWICH, CT- The Norwich Area Veterans Council will honor those who served during the Korean War this weekend, as reported by The Day.

A ceremony will be held Saturday to honor all veterans who served, regardless of theater, between June 1950 and July 1953, according to The Day. The committee hopes to make this an annual event, as they feel the spotlight is not put on Korean War veterans often enough.

Retired Army colonel and Stonington First Selectman Rob Simmons will deliver the keynote address, The Day reported. The ceremony will be held at the Richard E. Hourigan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 594 on Connecticut Avenue at 11 a.m., and is open to all city residents.
