The event will raise funds for the club's community grant program.

Press release from Stonington Garden Club:

July 26, 2021

The Stonington Garden Club (SGC) announced today that it will host “An Evening in the Garden,” a fundraiser event on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. in the COMO Children’s Garden, 27 Cutler Street, Stonington. The event will raise much-needed funds for the club’s Community Grant Program, which supports college scholarships, community beautification programs, and grants to local non-profits that promote conservation and environmental education. Tickets are $50 each.

The event will feature a variety of farm-fresh hors d’ouevres donated by local restaurants and farms, including Wild Briars Family Farm, Shelter Harbor Inn, Dog Watch Café, The Tin Peddler, Stone Acres Farm, the Restaurant at Spicer Mansion, Noah’s Restaurant, the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club, and Water Street Café as well as wine supplied by Cove Ledge. A garden-inspired silent auction will offer unique experiences related to the categories of initiatives supported by the club’s Community Grant Program: gardening, conservation, the environment, education, and healthy living.

“Our triennial ‘Gardens by the Sea’ tour traditionally provides the majority of the funds for our Community Grant Program, but due to Covid, we had to postpone the tour in 2020 and then again in 2021,” said Deb Dodds, SGC President. “This has left a funding gap that threatens our ability to support our community programs and projects. The proceeds from this event will go a long way in helping us close that gap.”
